For over 5,000 years, billions of people have turned to acupuncture for everything from pain management to health maintenance. Drawing on the principles of Chinese medicine, acupuncture is an integrated health care system. It’s completely natural, drug-free, and safe. The goal is always to activate the body’s own abilities to heal and grow stronger.

Acupuncture works by activating and manipulating the body’s internal source of energy, called Qi. We believe that Qi flows through the body in river-like channels called meridians. However, when these meridians are blocked or disrupted, Qi cannot properly nourish the body and mind. The body might begin to experience the symptoms of ill health.

The goal of the acupuncturist, then, is to understand how Qi flows through the meridians, properly diagnose any difficulties, and work with the patient to resolve them. Once Qi can flow freely, symptoms should dissipate and the patient should return to good health.

Cupping is a type of alternative therapy that originated in China. It involves placing glass or bamboo cups on the skin to create suction. The suction may facilitate healing with blood flow.

Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. It may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue. People use cupping to complement their care for a host of issues and conditions.

Essential Oils

Essential oils are highly concentrated, natural plant-based aromatic compounds derived from the the roots, flowers, seeds, bark, or other areas of the plant. They are highly concentrated, making them extremely potent. Essential oils give a plant its aroma, protect it from harsh environmental conditions and insects, and even play a part in plant pollination.

With unique chemical structures, each essential oil holds a variety of benefits. Some essential oils provide soothing, toning, and grounding properties, while others are known as energizing, uplifting, warming, or renewing. As our bodies go through an array of emotions and physical states throughout a single day, essential oils can help us manage and maintain well-being. he aroma of essential oils can also create a chemical reaction in the brain, eliciting emotions and internal responses.
